Reverend Gary L. Johnson - Pastor

PASTOR’S BIO

Pastor Gary was born in Arlington, Virginia and lived most of his childhood  in Northern Virginia.  At age thirteen he began attending Boulevard Baptist Church in Falls Church, Virginia, where he was eventually saved and was baptized in 1972. 

He graduated from Averett College in Danville, Virginia in 1977 with a B.A. in English/Drama/Speech.  He earned his Master of Divinity Degree in 1982 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

In 1981 Pastor Gary married his sweetheart, Debra.  God has blessed them with two children, Timothy and Sarah.  Debra currently teaches 5^th grade at Springfield Elementary School.  In November of 2004 Pastor Gary began his ministry at Woodlawn.

His hobbies include gardening, reading, video games and golfing.  He is a big fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies & Georgia Bulldogs (college), as well as the Washington Redskins & the Atlanta Braves (professional).

On his vision for Woodlawn, Pastor Gary shares, “I believe that God has a special work with the families of our community in and through Woodlawn Baptist Church.  We want evangelize, minister to and train the families of our area to the glory of Jesus Christ.”

Richard Miller - Associate Pastor to Youth and Young Adults

Richard joined the Woodlawn staff in October 2008. He has a passion for young people; challanging them to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ.

Ted A. Jones - Minister of Music

Ted came to Woodlawn as Minister of Music in April 2005. In this bi-vocational position, Ted works with and oversees all the music ministries in the Church which include the Adult Sanctuary Choir; the Pre-school and Children's Choirs; and the Praise Team and Praise Band. Ted has served at several other area churches as Minister of Music and has also worked with Youth.

Doris Bredeson - Secretary

Doris is the Church Secretary.
